Yeah, that’s me (on the right) and my colleague Keith Brown on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal. Live. For about 49 minutes.
We were on in December discussing hearings that had been held by the House Armed Services Committee readiness subcommittee on the implementation of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure round.
We’d done a ton of stories about it, showing that the estimated cost to close Fort Monmouth had doubled from the original $780 million to (then) $1.5 billion. It’s since grown to $1.6 billion.
It was pretty interesting. The host asked us questions, and we took calls from around the country. I was amazed at how many people were up that early (9:30 or so on a Saturday morning) who actually had substantive comments on the topic.
All in all, worth not getting any sleep the night before.
